The 44-Inch Low Endurance Coastie Cutter class is the smallest cutter ever built for the US Coast Guard and US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Coastie the Safety Boat is an exciting tool for teaching boat safety, Personal flotation device education (PFD), and water safety.
Coastie moves, speaks, listens, plays MP3s and activates his lights, and siren all by remote control. He can wink, blink, and move his eyes, and will present a friendly image to young and old alike. He is powered by electric motors operated by remote control, equipped with a full duplex two-way voice system and has independent directional control drive wheels.
Coastie comes with a voice modifier and a water squirter. The voice modifier changes the operator's voice coming out of the robot to a fun cartoony sounding voice. The water squirter can shoot a stream of water 15 to 20 feet, kids love it!
This cutter was introduced to the US Coast Guard and US Coast Guard Auxiliary inventory in 1997 - production is still continuing by the Robotronics Shipyard in Springville, Utah.
